Who you're hiring
I'm a freelance web developer. Most of my work starts the same way. Someone I already know mentions their website is embarrassing them.
That's the whole business. I'm not an agency, there's no account manager, and you won't be handed to a junior once the contract is signed. The person you meet is the person who writes the code, and the person who picks up when something breaks at 4:30 on a Friday.
I named it Juniper because junipers don't need you. They grow in bad dirt, they stay green through a drought, and the old ones outlast the towns around them. That's what your website should be. Built once, still working in five years, not one more thing on your list.
